Peer pressure  is the direct or indirect influence on peers, i.e., members of social groups with similar interests, experiences, or social statuses. Members of a peer group are more likely to influence a person's beliefs, values, and behavior. A group or individual may be encouraged and want to follow their peers by changing their  attitudes , values  or behaviours to conform  to those of the influencing group or individual. For the individual affected by peer pressure, this can have both a positive or negative influence on them. Social groups include both  membership groups  in which individuals hold "formal" membership (e.g. political parties, trade unions, schools) and cliques in which membership is less clearly defined. An overwhelming majority  of those  refugees and immigrants were Bengali Hindus.[1] During the Bangladesh liberation war with  Pakistan  , an estimated 10 million people of  Bangladesh  (present-day Bangladesh) fled the country and took refuge in India particularly in the Indian states of West Bengal and Indian North East region, especially Tripura and Assam. ECONOMIC FACTORS INFLUENCING MENTAL HEALTH Background Poor mental state has large social and economic consequences both for the individual and society. In Sweden, the prevalence of psychological state symptoms has increased since the start of the 1990s. There is a requirement for a far better understanding of the world for planning preventive activities and health care.  Methods The study is predicated on a postal survey questionnaire sent to a random sample of men and ladies aged 18–84 years in 2004. The overall response rate was 64%. The area investigated covers 55 municipalities with a few million inhabitants in central a neighborhood of Sweden. The study population includes 42,448 respondents. Mental health was measured with self-reported symptoms of anxiety/depression (EQ-5D, 5th question).
